Tagum City Civil Registrar Joins LCRO Panabo’s Forum on Marriage Solemnization
Acting City Civil Registrar Libertad B. Regis of LCRO Panabo City invited City Civil Registrar Editha G. McCartney as the Resource Speaker of its Forum for Solemnizing Officers who are based in Panabo City.
In this forum, CCR McCartney shared essential insights on the roles, responsibilities and duties of solemnizing officers as provided in the Family Code of the Philippines and PSA’s Administrative Order No. 1, S-2021.
Ms. McCartney emphasized the crucial role of solemnizing officers for the validity of marriages officiated and addressed the queries and concerns raised by the solemnizing officers such as:
a) Can they solemnize the marriage of a non-member?
b) Why would they need to issue an approval of the written request of the parties to hold their marriage outside the church?
c) Can they change the religion of the contracting parties indicated in the Application for Marriage License?
d) Etc.
CCR McCartney also took this opportunity to impart knowledge to Solemnizing Officers from Panabo City who may solemnize wedding in Tagum City to avoid any irregularities, issues and concerns during the registration of marriages in LCRO Tagum.
